CA Transcription course

Presenter(s) Dr Rein Ove Sikveland
Location Loughborough University

This is a practical workshop to develop the transcription skills of PhD students and researchers using conversation analysis (CA). The workshop focuses primarily on the Jeffersonian convention, and includes exercises in phonetic listening skills and prosodic analysis.

Some familiarity with conversation analysis and data collection would be an advantage. Data and materials are supplied on the day.

This workshop is part of a series of upcoming CA workshops to be offered at Loughborough University’s Centre for Research in Communication and Culture, including Advanced CA, Medical interaction, Children’s interactions, Discursive Psychology and Membership Categorization Analysis. Read more about upcoming workshops here.

Who is running the workshop?

The workshop will be organised and led by Rein Sikveland. Rein is a Research Associate with background in CA and phonetics, currently applying CA and CARM to service encounters, crisis negotiation, and teacer education (CAiTE).

Time and place

The workshop will run from 10.00-17.00 on Thursday 21st November 2019, at Loughborough University (room TBC).
